Appy League: Burlington Explodes For 15 Runs; Route Bristol

It was gloomy all day within the Appalachian League with two games being postponed due to weather, the clouds and heavy rain missed Bristol, but Burlington poured it on early and didn’t hold back.

Burlington put a five spot before Bristol even touched their bats. A wild pitch by Tahnaj Thomas scored John Rave and Maikel Garcia, Jake Means drives in a run on a fielder’s choice and David Hollie blasted a two-run double.

In the top of the second Burlington extended its lead to 6-0 with a Logan Porter home run, his first of the season.

Vinnie Pasqualino would then bomb a two-run homer for his first career long-ball, that gave the B-Royals a 8-0 lead before the fifth inning.

Burlington put up a four spot in the fifth inning with a balk from Bristol’s Enrique Santana. Michael Massey drove in a run with a sac fly and Pasqualino hit his second two-run homer of the game that put Burlington up 12-0.

The B-Royals added one more run in the sixth inning and two runs in the ninth inning with a RBI triple from Maikel Garcia. Garcia would eventually score on a balk from Bristol to us their lead to 15-0.

Bristol got on the board in the ninth inning with a RBI sac fly from Samuel Inoa. Bristol wouldn’t score again, losing 15-1.

Burlington received a strong outing from Delvin Capellan who went five innings, not allowing a run on two hits and striking out seven in his Appy League debut. He threw 67 pitches, 50 for strikes.

The B-Royals and BriBucs meet again on Wednesday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm.
